How to do it

  1. Confirm each extinguisher is easy to reach and not blocked.
  2. Check the pressure gauge or indicator is in the manufacturer’s recommended range.
  3. Look for a missing pin or seal, corrosion, dents, leakage, damaged hose or nozzle, or unreadable instructions.
  4. Check the label for model-specific shaking, professional service, expiration, recharge, or replacement instructions.

Stop and get help when

  • Low or high pressure indication
  • Corrosion or denting
  • Missing pin or seal
  • Discharge residue
  • Expired service date

Contact the manufacturer, fire department, or a qualified extinguisher service provider for training, inspection uncertainty, recharge, pressure testing, or replacement. Do not rely on a questionable extinguisher.
